Petaluma-born Olympic skateboarder Minna Stess is being honored at the state Capitol.
The 18-year-old joined state Assemblymember Damon Connolly on the Assembly floor on Valentine’s Day to receive official recognition for her participation in the 2024 Summer Olympics. Connolly says Stess has made Sonoma County proud by representing it on an international stage and that he was proud to host her and her family on the Assembly floor.
Stess is the number two ranked female park skateboarder in the U.S. and ranks 13th in the world. She won gold at the 2021 national championships and bronze at last year’s World Skateboarding Championship, becoming the first American to ever medal in the women’s event.
