Petaluma city leaders are focusing on long-term planning, with the General Plan update taking center stage. At a recent workshop, city council members discussed priorities for parks, fairgrounds, and economic development.
The General Plan, expected to be finalized this year, will incorporate key topics like housing and zoning. City Manager Peggy Flynn says a comprehensive list of goals will be ready in April, ahead of budget talks.
Despite federal funding uncertainties, the city remains committed to its projects, including a Parks master plan and active transportation initiatives. New additions to the agenda include mobile home resident protections and an economic development strategy, aimed at boosting local businesses and creating jobs.
Council members emphasized the need for a thriving economy and support for the agricultural community. They also discussed protecting farmers from undue lawsuits and drone interference.
