A Santa Rosa resident in custody in connection with the drug overdoses of four local high school students made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
21-year-old Ramon Nunez, who was arrested on Sunday afternoon, has not yet been formally charged in connection with the overdoses, two of which resulted in deaths. Prosecutors say they need more time to review the cases and determine whether to pursue homicide charges.
Police say a 16-year-old girl who attended Santa Rosa High School and an 18-year-old man who attended Montgomery High School overdosed and died last weekend, after buying fentanyl-laced cocaine from Nunez.
The surviving victims, two teenage girls, were hospitalized after taking the same type of drug.
