Over ten thousand federal workers were laid off nationwide by the middle of February. Agencies like the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management haven’t commented on the layoffs, though union representatives fear that numerous seasonal workers hoping for permanent jobs have been let go.
If staffing levels drop in the parks, visitors may face reduced services, slower maintenance, and possible restrictions accessing parks.
