Trader Joe’s Suing Direct Action Everywhere

Trader Joe’s is suing the animal welfare group Direct Action Everywhere, or DxE, to stop in-store protests across California, including Sonoma County.

According to the Press Democrat, the lawsuit, filed July 3rd, accuses DxE members of trespassing and disrupting business by chanting and even removing chicken products from carts. DxE is targeting products from Petaluma Poultry, alleging animal cruelty.

DxE states Trader Joe’s refused dialogue. This legal action follows similar moves by Perdue Farms against DxE. A DxE member also faces felony charges in Sonoma County related to an earlier protest.

The Trader Joe’s case heads to court on December 2nd.
