A new hotel project in Cotati is once again moving forward after years of delays caused by a tough economy and financing issues.
A report from the Press Democrat says the 153-room Cotati Hotel, which would be the city’s first, has been a passion project for Santa Rosa developer Ken Molinaro since 2017. Despite multiple setbacks with lenders and the pandemic, Molinaro says he’s on the verge of securing new financing. The project is expected to take about a year to complete once work resumes.
The hotel is designed to embrace Cotati’s musical heritage with a stage for live performances. City officials believe this will boost tourism and complement the community’s culture. However, industry experts note that many similar hotel projects across California are currently stalled due to a difficult lending environment.
