SRCS To Track Student Attendance For First Two Weeks Of New School Year

Santa Rosa City Schools will be closely tracking how many students show up for classes during the first two weeks of the school year.

District officials will be analyzing ten-day enrollment numbers to calculate future financial impacts. This comes with the district facing a continuing financial crisis, largely caused by declining enrollment. Six elementary and middle schools are scheduled to close in the coming months and 150 staff members were laid off in June.

Those moves are expected to offset about half of the district’s 20-million-dollar budget deficit for the upcoming school year.
