Parking fees in downtown Santa Rosa are set to increase next year.
Meter rates along Fourth Street in Old Courthouse Square and around Railroad Square will rise by one dollar per hour, with most city-owned lots and garages also seeing higher hourly fees. Officials plan to remove nearly 200 meters outside the core commercial area, adding more free spaces for visitors willing to walk.
The changes are expected to generate an extra one-million-dollars as the city faces a multiyear, multimillion-dollar deficit.
