A Cloverdale man was arrested Sunday after a minutes-long struggle inside a Healdsburg church.
Police say 40-year-old Arturo Rodriguez Herrera was spotted riding a bike with outstanding warrants for probation violations and felony burglary. He reportedly fled from officers into St. John’s Catholic Church during a baptism before being tackled.
Officials say during the encounter, Rodriguez grabbed and bit an officer, who sustained knee, wrist, and thumb injuries. Officers also found suspected methamphetamine and a pipe in his hand.
Rodriguez was booked into Sonoma County Jail on multiple felony charges.
