A local citizens’ group has dropped its lawsuit against the city of Petaluma over a controversial downtown development ordinance.
The Petaluma Argus-Courier reports the Petaluma Historic Advocates had sued to stop a plan that would allow for increased building heights and density, arguing it would harm the city’s historic downtown. The group says it is dropping the lawsuit after the Petaluma City Council voted to resolve a key zoning inconsistency that was central to their legal challenge.
The City Council must now decide whether to repeal the ordinance or put it to a public vote.
