The Board of Supervisors has formally directed staff to enter negotiations with the City of Santa Rosa, the Fair Board, and the United Soccer League.
The goal is to evaluate building a multi-purpose professional soccer stadium and entertainment district on the site. This move begins a year-long feasibility study to assess financing, land use, and community impact.
Supervisors stress that while the project could bring energy and jobs, any development must preserve the Fairgrounds’ role as a community hub and still host the Sonoma County Fair.
No final commitments have been made at this early stage.
