Petaluma City Council unanimously turns down a recall effort targeting District 1 Council member Janice Cader Thompson.
Signature gatherers launched the effort, accusing Thompson of dismissive conduct and ignoring public input. Thompson recused herself from Monday’s six-oh vote.
The council calls the effort costly, divisive, and unwarranted, saying no misconduct justifies removal. A staff report notes city resources have already been burdened processing filings and responding to inquiries.
Thompson’s term ends in November 2026.
