Santa Rosa has opened a new, specialized facility aiming to tackle the intersection of homelessness and severe mental illness.
Per the Press Democrat, the new shelter on Arrowood Drive is a partnership between Sonoma County Behavioral Health and the Felton Institute. Unlike traditional shelters, it offers 40 private or semi-private rooms and a robust menu of on-site services, including case management, therapy, and medication support.
The goal is to serve high-need residents, such as those with severe mental illness who are willing to receive treatment, helping them move from the streets or institutions into stable, long-term housing.
