The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for the Coastal North Bay, the San Francisco Peninsula, and down to the Big Sur Coast.
The warning is in effect from Thursday at 4 p.m. through Monday night. According to a report from the Press Democrat, forecasters are warning of dangerous surf conditions, including an increased risk for sneaker waves and strong rip currents, with breaking waves expected to reach 13 to 18 feet.
The NWS urges the public to stay out of the water, remain off rocks, and never turn their back on the ocean, as sneaker waves can unexpectedly rush far up the beach.
