Calistoga residents have strongly voiced their priorities for the city-owned fairgrounds: community events and traditional uses over commercial development or housing.
A report from the Press Democrat says a new city survey shows massive support for maintaining the 70-acre property as an emergency evacuation center (86% support), with high demand for restoring the golf course, sprint car racing, and festivals.
Only 1% of respondents supported building new housing there. City Council members are now using the results to create a long-term plan for the revitalization of the fairgrounds.
