Sonoma County authorities have shut down a major illegal cannabis extraction lab southwest of Santa Rosa last week.
Per the Press Democrat, operating out of a large industrial warehouse, the site housed a multimillion-dollar hydrocarbon extraction operation using dangerously large quantities of highly flammable chemicals like butane. Officials called the unpermitted setup “life-threatening,” citing a lack of basic safety features, including proper ventilation and fire protection.
The cleanup of the hazardous materials required a multi-agency response.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released details on any arrests.
