California’s Finance Watchdog To Investigate Supervisor Rabbitt

California’s campaign finance watchdog is investigating Sonoma County Supervisor David Rabbitt over alleged conflict-of-interest violations.

The complaint, filed in February by the union representing county employees, is tied to a 56-million-dollar county real estate deal that was later abandoned. The union cited a one-thousand-dollar campaign donation Rabbitt received from a real estate agent involved in the deal, which they argued should have barred him from voting.

The Fair Political Practices Commission confirmed it will probe the allegations but has not disclosed the scope or timeline of the investigation.
