The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is set to approve major changes to its commercial cannabis regulations today.
According to the Press Democrat, the revisions attempt to balance the needs of the struggling cannabis industry—which seeks relief from burdensome rules—with concerns from rural residents about noise, odor, and traffic from farms.
The new rules, which focus heavily on outdoor cultivation, are highly controversial and have drawn threats of lawsuits.
If approved, the changes, which include new setback and acreage requirements, will take effect on July 1, 2026.
