Under current California law, it is illegal to hold a phone or any electronic device while operating a vehicle, whether you are talking, texting, or using an app.
Police stress that your focus must be on the road. Violators face fines, and a second offense within three years will result in a point on your driving record.

This initiative is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
