The Santa Rosa Police Department is launching a major enforcement campaign to combat impaired driving this holiday season. Citing alarming national statistics—like the 1,038 alcohol-impaired driving deaths in the U.S. in December 2023—SRPD is urging the public to celebrate responsibly.
From December 12th through New Year’s Day, you can expect to see additional officers on patrol as part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. These high-visibility patrols will be specifically targeting drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs—including prescription medications and cannabis.
Police are reminding everyone that impaired driving is dangerous, illegal, and unacceptable. They stress the importance of planning ahead: designate a sober driver, use public transit, or call a rideshare service. If you spot a suspected impaired driver, call 9-1-1. The goal is simple: ensure everyone gets home safely to their families.
