The Sonoma City Council has signaled strong support for mobile home park residents by directing staff to draft an ordinance with stronger protections against potential park closures.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the move aims to preserve hundreds of units of affordable housing. While park owners requested minimal changes, residents stressed the need for increased control and assistance, citing the fear of displacement.
The updated ordinance will feature longer notification periods for residents and clearer standards for relocation assistance and payments.
