Sonoma has received the Charging Smart Silver designation from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council for its efforts to boost electric vehicle charging infrastructure and reduce emissions.
The Sonoma Index-Tribune reports Mayor Patricia Farrar-Rivas noted the award highlights how the city is “putting our climate goals into action.” The city was recognized for actions like streamlining EV charger permits and updating zoning rules to encourage more charging stations.
Officials confirm they are continuing work to expand charging access across the community.
