The failure of Measure I last month has forced Petaluma City Schools to prepare for a $5 million budget shortfall for the 2026-2027 school year.
According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, district leaders met Tuesday to discuss eliminating staff positions and programs, including campus advisors, assistant principals, and potentially restructuring alternative education services.
Superintendent Matthew Harris emphasized the need to ensure the district’s “fiscal solvency.” A Budget Advisory Committee will provide final recommendations for the necessary cuts on January 8th.
