One person is dead following a collision between an SUV and a motorized scooter.
Santa Rosa Police and Fire crews responded to the intersection of Santa Rosa Avenue and El Portal Drive just after 8:00 a.m. today.
Investigators say the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was turning left onto Santa Rosa Avenue when they struck a 61-year-old Rohnert Park resident riding a motorized scooter. Sadly, that rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 30-year-old Santa Rosa local, told officers they did not see the scooter before the impact. Police say the driver remained at the scene, called 911, and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
