Windsor Unified School District Trustees Designate Old Windsor Creek Elementary School Campus For Housing

The former Windsor Creek Elementary School site is one step closer to becoming new housing.

Windsor Unified School District trustees designated the 11-point-5-acre campus as surplus land.

The designation is required before local governments can sell property. The district has been negotiating exclusively with affordable housing developer Gallaher Community Housing, which plans up to 368 units, including studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and houses for rent at below-market rates.

The school was closed in 2019 due to low enrollment, and officials have since targeted the site to help expand the area’s limited workforce housing supply.
