Yountville To Transform Former Elementary School Campus Into Housing

The Town of Yountville is one step closer to transforming a former elementary school into a massive workforce housing hub.

According to the Press Democrat, town officials have unveiled a conceptual plan for the “Yountville Commons” site that could bring up to 150 new housing units to the heart of the Napa Valley. The proposal features 15 three-story buildings designed specifically for local employees to live where they work.

The project would sit on the nearly seven-acre site of the former Yountville Elementary School, which the town purchased last year for 11 million dollars. Beyond housing, the plan includes space for a town archive, local businesses, and the preservation of several original school buildings.

While some board members have raised concerns about parking, the project received a unanimous recommendation this week to move forward. The Town Council is scheduled to vote on the final environmental reports and zoning changes on January 13th.
