A powerful combination of a winter storm surge and historically high “king tides” left parts of Marin County underwater on Saturday.
Major transit arteries were hit hard, with Highway 101 near Lucky Drive and eastbound Highway 37 forced to shut down for several hours. While lanes began to reopen by mid-afternoon, the impact stretched deep into local communities.
Flooding swamped homes and businesses from Sausalito to Mill Valley, while roughly 1,500 residents lost power during the surge. Similar flooding was reported along the coast in Inverness and Stinson Beach. Officials are urging drivers to remain cautious as water recedes in low-lying areas.
