Two Ukiah men are behind bars on one-million-dollar bail after a brutal New Year’s Eve sword attack that left a 33-year-old man in extremely critical condition.
Police say 23-year-olds Adam Smith and Pete Gonzales lured the victim behind a building before stabbing him in the chest and neck, eventually fleeing with his backpack and his dog.
The suspects were arrested New Year’s Day on charges of attempted murder and robbery, and while the victim remains hospitalized, authorities have successfully recovered the stolen dog.
