The Rincon Valley Union School District is set to vote Tuesday night on which campus will close its doors this June to help address an $8.5-million-dollar budget deficit.
The Press Democrat reports administrators are recommending the closure of Douglas Whited Elementary Charter School, a move expected to save over one million dollars and help the district avoid a state-level fiscal crisis.
While the board prepares to identify staff layoffs in February, officials say the final number of job cuts will depend on upcoming negotiations with labor unions regarding benefits and work hours.
