Residents in Clearlake are dealing with a local emergency due to a massive sewage spill.
Officials in the North Bay city say the incident began Sunday when a pipe ruptured along Robin Lane. Crews have spent the past several days trying to repair the rupture, but the spill was still taking place as of late Tuesday due to faulty valves.
About 60 homes in the area are dealing with raw sewage that has flooded the area. Those residents are also being told to drink bottled water for the time being over concerns that the sewage has spread into nearby waterways.
It’s unclear when the rupture will be fully fixed.
