Major Traffic Collision To Blame For West County Power Outage

Thousands of residents in West Sonoma County are waking up without power this morning following a major traffic collision in Sebastopol.

The Press Democrat reports just before 8:00 a.m., a vehicle struck a PG&E power pole, initially cutting service to over 5,000 customers. While power has been restored to more than half of those affected, many within Sebastopol city limits remain in the dark.

Healdsburg Avenue has since reopened, but repair crews remain on-site. Drivers should expect lane shifts near Covert Lane and Murphy Avenue through the morning.

PG&E is currently working to repair both the damaged pole and related underground equipment issues.
