Two Individuals From Santa Rosa Arrested In Connection With Stolen Marin County Bicycle

A sharp-eyed officer and some neighborhood surveillance footage have led to the recovery of a high-end mountain bike stolen in Mill Valley.

Per the Marin Independent Journal, the neon-yellow bike, valued at $8,000, was reported stolen from a youth on January 11th. A Mill Valley patrol officer recalled seeing a suspicious vehicle with a similar bike on its roof earlier that day and used local security footage to identify the car.

Working with Petaluma and Santa Rosa police, officers tracked the vehicle to Santa Rosa, where it was pulled over for a traffic violation on Friday. Police found the stolen bike still in the suspects’ possession.

Two Santa Rosa residents—48-year-old Robert Roberts and 47-year-old Jennifer Merchant—were arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy. The bike has since been returned to its owner.
