Hooters Rumored To Replace Vacant Rite Aid In Healdsburg

A viral rumor about a new tenant for Healdsburg’s vacant Rite Aid has turned out to be nothing more than a well-placed prank.

The Press Democrat reports social media erupted this week after a fake liquor license application for the sports bar chain Hooters was posted in the window of the shuttered Healdsburg Avenue pharmacy. While the news sparked local outrage, City Manager Jeff Kay confirmed the notice is a hoax.

Council member Ron Edwards noted several “tells,” including an incorrect address and corporate name. This marks the second time this month a fake Hooters sign has appeared at a vacant North Bay storefront, following a similar gag in Mill Valley.

For now, the city says there is still no official tenant for the building.
