House Fire Near Petaluma Airport Forces Road Closure

A Petaluma house fire briefly shut down a busy roadway near the municipal airport this morning.

The Press Democrat reports fire crews rushed to Ely Boulevard South just after 8 a.m. following multiple reports of black smoke and flames. Firefighters arrived to find a two-story home with fire extending into the attic. It took crews about 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Ely Boulevard was closed between Caulfield and Meadowview lanes for about an hour during the response, but it has since reopened. Investigators believe the fire started outside the home before spreading inward, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
