Lithium-Ion Batteries Blamed For Monday’s Fire Near Petaluma Airport

A Petaluma family is looking for a place to stay this morning after a fast-moving fire broke out at their home on Ely Boulevard South just after 8:00 a.m. Monday.

Thankfully, all residents and their five pets—four dogs and a cat—made it out safely before crews arrived to knock down the flames.

Investigators believe the fire, which sent thick black smoke over the area near the Petaluma Municipal Airport, may have been sparked by malfunctioning lithium-ion batteries.
