Healthy Petaluma District To Award 18 Local Organizations With Funding

A major win for Southern Sonoma County: The Healthy Petaluma District and Foundation has officially reached a $700,000 funding milestone for the current fiscal year.

According to the Petaluma Argus Courier, a fresh round of $350,000 was just awarded to 18 local organizations to help them navigate a difficult climate of budget cuts. These grants, ranging from $10,000 to $30,000, provide critical ‘stabilizing support’ for groups like McDowell Elementary, the Polly Klaas Foundation, and Buckelew Programs. CEO Ramona Faith says the goal is to keep the community’s health and social safety nets strong.

More help is on the way with a new $2 million “Together for Women and Families Fund.” Local nonprofits have until 5 p.m. on February 27th to apply. Visit healthypetaluma.org/womensfund for more information.
