The Santa Rosa Police Department just concluded its latest “Missing Person Monday” social media campaign, and it’s chalking up another win for community-led tips.
The Press Democrat reports one case was officially resolved after 68-year-old Harvey Thompson was located in a different city thanks to a Facebook post, bringing the total to 14 people found since the program began two years ago.
While the five-week push was a success, investigators say the work isn’t over.
They’ve re-released information on 22 cold cases that are still open—including some dating back to 1984—hoping that a fresh pair of eyes on social media might finally lead to a breakthrough for these families.
