Windsor Revises Rules With New “Disturbing The Peace” Ordinance

Windsor is cranking down the volume on neighborhood disturbances with a newly approved “disturbing the peace” ordinance set to take effect March 4.

According to the Press Democrat, the update targets everything from excessively loud music and illegal fireworks to public fighting and offensive language intended to incite violence.

Under the new rules, repeat offenders could face fines of up to $500, a significant jump from what residents previously described as “a slap on the wrist.”

While police will still issue a warning for a first offense, the town hopes the tiered fine system will finally give officers the teeth they need to handle the hundreds of noise and nuisance calls they receive each year.
