Montecito Oliver’s Market Reopens Following Friday Morning Crash

Seven people were injured Friday morning when an SUV crashed through the front of the Oliver’s Market in east Santa Rosa.

According to the Press Democrat, just before noon, a red Hyundai Tucson jumped the curb at the Montecito Shopping Center, smashing through the storefront and into a check stand. Santa Rosa Police say the driver was wearing a medical walking boot on her right foot at the time, which investigators believe may have been a contributing factor.

Of the seven injured, four were hospitalized—including one person with major injuries. The store suffered roughly $20,000 in damage and was “yellow-tagged” by building inspectors, though it has since begun cleanup and limited operations.

While driving with a medical boot is not a violation of the vehicle code, police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
