The wine industry’s current slowdown is hitting home in the North Bay, as E. & J. Gallo Winery announces plans to cut nearly 100 jobs across five local sites.
The North Bay Business Journal reports the Modesto-based giant is shutting down The Ranch Winery in St. Helena entirely and trimming staff at several iconic spots, including Louis M. Martini, Orin Swift, J Vineyards, and Frei Ranch.
These layoffs are expected to roll out between this April and early next year as the company navigates what experts call some of the most challenging times for the industry in recent memory.
