Petaluma’s Cavanagh Pool is back in business with a limited schedule after a sudden closure sparked an outcry from local seniors and fitness enthusiasts.
According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, the city had originally planned to shutter the west side facility until spring due to staffing issues, but officials reversed course following community pressure, reopening the doors last Wednesday for one hour a day, three days a week.
Parks and Recreation Director Drew Halter says hours will expand on March 2nd to include the return of popular water aerobics classes as new lifeguards are trained.
The city has taken over management of the pool to ensure stricter safety protocols, while also using the brief closure to refresh the locker rooms and install new fixtures.
