Sonoma’s Planning Commission has hit the brakes on a request to rezone the 20-acre historic Sebastiani Winery property, choosing to maintain its current “wine production” status for now.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, while commissioners agreed to fix a zoning error for the site’s historic cottages, they say rushing into a “mixed-use” designation could strip away local control and open the door to state-mandated housing projects the city wouldn’t be able to shape.
The “go-slow” recommendation now heads to the City Council for a final look during their first meeting in March.
