A woman reported missing from Connecticut five months ago has turned up in Northern California—under arrest.
According to the Press Democrat, Carleen McGeachie, who vanished from New Haven last September, was identified by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office this week as one of three New York residents charged in a multi-state bank fraud and identity theft scheme.
Authorities say the trio traveled from the East Coast to target banks across the North Bay and San Francisco. During a hotel search, investigators recovered fake IDs, stolen credit cards, and over $15,000 in cash.
While her family now knows her whereabouts, McGeachie won’t be headed home just yet; officials confirm she will remain in California to face several felony charges.
