Cloverdale Considers New Community Garden at Furber Park

A patch of struggling grass in Cloverdale could soon be home to fresh vegetables and local flowers.

According to the Press Democrat, city leaders are exploring a plan to convert the southwest corner of Furber Park into a community garden. Proponents, including Vice Mayor Todd Lands, say the move would save water by replacing 150 sprinklers with a efficient drip system while providing a space for residents to grow their own food.

While most of the City Council is optimistic, some members want to ensure there is enough long-term commitment from the public to keep the garden blooming. The city is now launching a community survey to gauge interest and scout for other potential locations.

Residents can weigh in now, and the results will be presented at the March 25th council meeting.
