A cutting-edge mental health treatment is becoming accessible to low-income residents in West County.
Per the Press Democrat, the Russian River Health Center in Guerneville is launching a ketamine-assisted group therapy program, specifically designed for patients on Medi-Cal. By partnering with Sebastopol’s Liminal Medicine, the clinic has lowered costs to provide a treatment typically priced at thousands of dollars.
Clinic leaders say the program targets “treatment-resistant” depression and PTSD, conditions often fueled by poverty and trauma. Following a successful pilot project last year, the center hopes to begin regular sessions this spring—potentially becoming the first federally funded clinic in the U.S. to offer this specific group model.
