Trione-Annadel Trail Plan to Legalize “Social” Routes and Add Kiosks

Santa Rosa’s favorite wilderness is getting its first major roadmap in decades.

The Press Democrat reports State Parks has released a draft management plan for Trione-Annadel, aiming to modernize 45 miles of trails used by 13,000 visitors a month. The plan would finally legalize the hike to Henry’s Knob—a popular but currently “unsanctioned” peak—and create separate “bike-only” and “hike-only” paths to reduce trail congestion.

To fund these upgrades, officials are considering “electronic rangers”—digital kiosks at trailheads to collect fees from visitors who currently enter for free. If approved, work on the first trail renovations could begin this summer.
