Sonoma County Tool Library Hammers Out a Grand Reopening

The Sonoma County Tool Library is celebrating its grand reopening this Saturday at a new location: the coLAB space on Mendocino Avenue.

According to the Press Democrat, formerly known as the Santa Rosa Tool Library, the nonprofit has rebranded to reflect its reach across the entire county. New Executive Director Martin Reed says the library—run by a “shoestring” team of 12 volunteers—offers over 1,000 tools for free, ranging from simple rakes to heavy-duty power equipment.

The move comes just in time for spring yardwork and fire prevention season. Looking ahead, Reed hopes to expand with micro-sites in cities like Sebastopol and even add hobby items, like industrial-sized pressure cookers, to their inventory.

The library is open Wednesdays and Saturdays for anyone looking to build, fix, or garden without breaking the bank.
