Casa Grande High Named a 2026 California Distinguished School

Petaluma’s Casa Grande High School has officially joined the elite ranks of the state’s top-performing secondary schools.

The Petaluma Argus-Courier reports State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced the 2026 Distinguished Schools list last week, recognizing Casa Grande for its “exemplary student outcomes” and high graduation rates.

Despite more than half of its 1,600 students being designated as socioeconomically disadvantaged, the school maintained a stellar 93% graduation rate and a significant dip in suspension numbers. Principal Erika Noone credited the win to the “Gaucho magic” created by dedicated teachers and staff.

Casa Grande is one of only three Sonoma County schools to receive the honor this year, alongside Credo High and Hillcrest Middle School.
