New Carriers and Routes Boost Sonoma County Airport

The Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) is entering a new era of growth as major airlines expand their presence in the North Bay.

Following the recent launch of new service by Alaska Airlines last week, airport officials are preparing for another major milestone with the arrival of Southwest Airlines, which is scheduled to begin operations on April 7th.

Despite a slight year-over-year dip in travel numbers, the airport remains a bustling hub; more than 45,000 passengers utilized the facility in February alone. Airport leadership remains optimistic about the future, noting that steady traveler demand and the addition of these high-profile carriers will more than offset the recent departure of Avelo Airlines.

This shift marks a strategic pivot for the airport as it scales up to meet the increasing needs of regional travelers.
