Rohnert Park Solar Project Moves Popular Summer Events

Rohnert Park officials have announced that a major solar canopy project beginning this Monday will temporarily transform the City Center Plaza.

Per the Press Democrat, the construction, which runs through August 1st, will fence off local parking lots and force the relocation of the 2026 Farmers Market and “Party on the Plaza” to the Community Center on Snyder Lane.

While the City Center library remains open, patrons will need to utilize street parking or nearby overflow lots during the build. Public Works Director Mark Hendersen noted that while the shift is an inconvenience, the immovable deadlines are necessary to secure long-term sustainability.

The project is expected to save the city nearly $6 million in energy costs over the next twenty years.
